Program Details
The Martial Art Xtreme Challenge will require all participants to push themselves to the limit.
The goal is to challenge oneself to perform the maximum number of:
- Punches
- Sit-ups
- Kicks
- Jumping Jacks
- Board Breaks
- Squat Thrusts
- Throws
- Falling Techniques
- Pushups
- Grappling Techniques
Remember: We would like to get each parent, relative or friend to donate at least $10 minimum. There can be a cap on family, friends, or relatives donations if they choose. This can be custom made for the students (boys and girls, men and women) according to their age and physical ability. Below are examples of ways to format your Martial Arts Xtreme Challenge Event.
Examples:
- 50-100 punches-$5, $1 per 50 punches after that
- 25-50 kicks-$5, $1 per 25 kicks after
- First board break-$5, $1 per board break after (If necessary you can use break-away boards, the size should be determined by the age of the child or adult)
- 10 throws in a row- $5, every 5 throws after-$1(must be done without stopping)
- Pushups- instructor picks a number according to age
(Example: 7 years old, 10 pushups-$5, $1 for each pushup after the 10th; adult, 25 pushups-$5, $1 for every 10 after) - Sit-ups- children, 10 sit-ups- $5, $1 for every 5 sit-ups after
- 50 jumping jacks- $5, $1 for every 10 after
- 10 squat thrusts for children, 20 for adults- $5, children: $1 for every 5 after, adults: $1 for every 10 after
- Falling techniques: forward roll, back fall, face fall, dive roll, air roll, ect. - $5 for the first 15 roll-outs or falls, $1 for every 5 after
- Grappling techniques: grappling for 5 minutes-$5 per person, $1 per minute per person after
(If one or the other is submitted, you stop and then immediately continue; this can start from a stand up or kneeling position. This event relies on how long you can last!)
Suggested Alternative Donation Methods
Students may also solicit donations for performing a certain number of techniques within a certain time limit. The student will perform the maximum number of techniques possible, the final donation amount would be based on the actual number of techniques performed.
For example – 100 puncesh -$10, $1 per 50 punches after that within 20 minutes (e.g. 500 punches = $18)
Donors may choose to contribute a general “flat rate” donation.
The above are suggestions; we invite you to implement this challenge in a way that will work best for your students. Ultimately, we are working toward the same goal…to assist the soldiers that have fought to protect us from harm’s way, and paid the price.
The MA Xtreme Challenge-Fundraiser Event - Q & A
1) We want to include all our students in this event even our Tiny Tigers 3-6, but feel they cannot do the same as our older students.
Put a time frame on each event according to the age and rank. Example: Do 50-100 punches, kicks, falls, ECT in under a minute. Remember this is about the charity fundraising aspect, so we want to support all those participating even if a student goes as long as they can until everyone has stopped (counting along the way)
We definitely want to encourage EVERYONE to be part of this important and life changing event, so we allow you to have the creative license to dictate what you feel is the appropriate challenge for all to choose from.
2) Is this event only being done on Veteran's Day or can we run it through the week leading up to the holiday?
Veteran's Day was set for the purpose of celebrating those who served our country in the armed forces of America.
It also allows us to coordinate sponsors, celebrity involvement, and media coverage. The date is a target date, but we are flexible with any date during the week leading up to Veteran's Day. The deadline will be November 11, Veteran's Day.
3) Can students do more than kicks and punches, such as board breaking, falls, grappling, throws, ect...
Yes, anything is acceptable. We really want to get into the spirit of this great fundraiser and have FUN while raising money for charity! Especially a charity with such a great cause./p>
4) Most people do a flat rate donation as opposed to a pledge. Is this ok?
That is exactly the idea! We want this to be easy for everyone involved, including the participants, the management, and the sponsors.
